A Tree for Hope!
In the mist of all the turmoil in Haiti, hope is blossoming. Back in one of the remote sides of Gressier, one will find a place called Grande Savane. There you will find a school called Institution Chretienne de Grande Savane. It was founded in 2009 by Pastor Bénito Joseph and his colleague Pastor Jean Emmanuel René.
On October 17th 2024, Pastor Benito lead their first launch of Cadeau Vert School Replanting Program with a group of 405 students, from the 3rd to the 8th grade.
The main speakers for the event were Agronomist Alcius Jean Cledanor and Agronomist Jean Jackson Marc. The most amazing thing is that Agronomist Jean Cledonor, as a boy, was present when we did our first Journée Verte at Christianville School on October 17th 2003. During his presentation, he talked about how that event had a profound impact on him as a young boy. He went into the field of agronomy as he saw that it was one of the avenues he could make a difference in the country.
Both speakers emphasized the importance of protecting and planting trees. They conveyed a sense of duty that each student must carry to save their community and the environment.
