Up North!

Straight up Nord from Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, one will cross many pleasant and enduring towns filled with a plethora of schools and little souls waiting for anyone to hold their hands, and guide them to bright hopes, closer to inspiring shores. Two of such places are Camp Louise et Haut Déhenne in the commune of l’Acul du Nord.

The area is known for its rich history, agriculture, and proximity to historic sites like "NAN KANPECH", where Boukman started the meeting of Bois-Caiman, which is part of the history of the beginning of the Haitian Revolution in 1791. It’s a quiet region with a strong rural character. There, most people work in farming, small trade, and in the small fishing business. Agriculture and fishing are big parts of life.

On February 11, 2025, a group of 857 little ones were led by the Cap Cadeau Vert team into the Launch of a School replanting project in Acul du Nord. The two schools are: L’École Presbytérienne de Camp-Louise whose director is Harold DÉSIR and L’École Chrétienne de Haut Dehenne whose director is Phito AUGUSTE.  Both directors, Phito and Harold are also involved in ecological and economic activities in the city of Cap-Haitian.

L’Acul du Nord was honored by two agronomist presenters from Cap Haitien: Agronomist Ervé URLISE and Agronomist Weetchy PAUL. They spoke about the importance and benefits of reforestation in Haiti.

At some point during the launch, the directors intervened to motivate each student to plant a tree and encouraged the students to appreciate the colossal work of Cadeau Vert in Camp-Louise and in Haut Déhenne.

A light refreshment was served to 857 students and a few teachers from the two schools.

The leaders and respective members of the community were delighted with the inaugural activity of Cadeau vert in the area and couldn’t assemble enough praise for this project. They promised to keep their doors open for any of Cadeau Vert’s future events.
